BTAA is the national brain tumour patient and carer organisation in Australia. BTAA is a not for profit organisation established in 2008 by a group of brain tumour patients and current and former carers. BTAA is concerned about all brain tumours (neoplasms) of the central nervous system (CNS), which includes the meninges, brain and spine.
While welcoming the advice and input of health care professionals, BTAA seeks to represent the brain tumour community from the viewpoint of the patient, their family and their carers.
BTAA coordinates and liaises between organisations, groups and service providers with an interest in central nervous system (including brain) malignant and non-malignant tumours including tumour care and support.
BTAA works closely with the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA), including in its promotion of the annual International Brain Tumour Awareness Week and the annual Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours (see theibta.org)
BTAA is operated by a committee of volunteers with a subscriber data base of over 2,000 persons – persons with a brain tumour, their families and carers, and health professionals and academics with a particular interest in brain tumours.
