Perhaps we need to talk about Cannabis |
A friend of BTAA was asked to write about their experience with medicinal cannabis and the effect it has had on their son's recovery and treatment. Here is their well researched and thoughtful account. We recognise that this is a controversial subject but it is a common topic of discussion within the brain tumour community. We don't shy away from discussing controversial issues however we do recommend that should you be considering medicinal cannabis that you discuss it with your doctor. While it’s generally accepted within the medical community that cannabis may have a good effect on alleviating symptoms there is currently no evidence that it affects brain tumours. |

Monique and Doug Thompson Gamma Knife Fund |
Here is some very useful information for those interested in, or enquiring about, Gamma Knife treatment. Established as part of the Monique and Doug Thompson Gamma Knife Fund, it enables patients, who otherwise would not be able to afford treatment, to receive financial support for Gamma Knife treatment at Macquarie University Hospital.

Cure My Brain Sporty Lunch |
We are happy to promote the Cure My Brain Foundation's efforts to raise money for families of children with brain cancer. They also donate, each year, a percentage of what they raise, to the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, to be used for either research or the purchase of equipment.
They have an upcoming event in Sydney, on the 16th November, that sounds like a lot of fun. |
