New research award in memory of Sam Ryan

Sam Ryan Memorial Research Award

The Sam Ryan Memorial Award was established in April 2016 thanks to a generous donation by Andrew and Pam Rorke in memory of their nephew, Sam Diaghileff Ryan who died from a brain tumour at the age of 31. Sam was committed to his family, passionate about health and fitness, cultural engagements, reading and the outdoors. He was an adventurous traveller, spiritual, irreverent and frequently very funny. In March 2008 Sam was married. In May 2008 he collapsed, and was diagnosed with grade IV glioblastoma (GBM4). Sam passed away on 2 April 2009, and is survived by his wife Kate and his daughter Tilly, who was born on 1 August 2009.

We would like to advertise this new award (worth $10,000) to help generate clinical research and/or support for brain cancer. The award might help a pilot project or be used for clinical and support projects.

Please write to Kerrie McDonald (k.mcdonald@unsw.edu.au) with 1-2 pages of the study background and Aims of research.
