You can help researchers - Forgotten Cancers Project seeking volunteers

Cancer Council Victoria’s Forgotten Cancers Project.

The project investigates the causes of less commonly diagnosed cancers by studying the role of genes, lifestyle and early environment exposures in their development. It aims to improve our understanding of the causes of these cancers so we can be in a better position to prevent them and support those affected by them in the future.

The researchers are seeking Australian residents who were aged 18 years or older when diagnosed with any less common cancer, with brain being one of our key target cancers. Those who take part are asked to register online, complete four online questionnaires and provide a saliva sample for DNA analysis. Hard copy questionnaires can also be requested by contacting the research team.

Currently, we have over 2000 total participants in the study. 109 of these have a diagnosis of brain cancer, with a target recruitment of 300 people.
